November 2019

Glenalvon House and the Society will host a textile display by Macarthur Textile Network called "Her War."

There will also be a display of vintage garments crocheted and embroidered items from the Society's archives.

These will be on display from the open morning on 12th October until the end of November, during Glenalvon's open mornings.


There is also a small display to coincide with ''Fisher's Ghost'' in the Servants' Quarters.
Please visit Glenalvon on one of our Open Days to support the volunteers who work so hard to keep Glenalvon open.


Monday 4th November.


Glenalvon is open 10am - 1pm. 


Saturday 9th November.  Glenalvon is open 10am - 3pm.

Volunteers required to sit in rooms of the house to welcome visitors. Any time you can give is appreciated.

Sunday 17th November.     Campbelltown District Family History Society   

DNA - Research Course    Campbelltown Library, Meeting Room 1   

Arrive by 10.45am.   Course duration: 11.00am to 3.30 pm.    Cost: $10.00

Launch of Grist Mills: Titled “Reveller’s Revue to Finian’s Rainbow” memories and stories of the early years of The Theatre Group.

Also continuing Tom Reeve’s stories of Campbelltown - John Scarr.       

then enjoy a special afternoon tea celebrating Christmas for all members.   

Trivia after afternoon tea   No speaker, just members and friends!

* The office at Glenalvon will not be open on Monday 11th November for Remembrance Day.


Upcoming Activities at Glenalvon for which we need Volunteer assistance.These are not public Open Days - Booked tour groups only.* Monday 18th November at 11.00am - 20 visitors for morning tea and tour


Note:" In June, a member went into Westpac Bank in the Mall to direct deposit $22 to the Society's account for membership.

Unfortunately there is no name on the bank statement, so if this is you please let us know."


Glenalvon is a classic sandstone town house dating from 1830. On open mornings the property is open from 10am to 1pm and activities include tours of the house, heritage gardens, buildings and the Rural exhibition centre.


Macarthur Textile Network displays at Glenalvon Open Mornings from 1st October to 25th November. Glenalvon will be open on Saturday 9th November 10am to 3pm as part of Fishers Ghost Festival and the chance to see the members of Macarthur Textile Network at work.
